Owner sees Mantua farm tract as potential paintball paradise

MANTUA TWP. A resident who owns nearly 28 acres of preserved farmland is scheduled to go before the county agriculture development board today to determine if he can operate paintball activities in the large wooded expanse of his property under his current deed.
"This is an industrial-zoned area with very few residences and the wooded area that would be used for paintball is as far away from houses as you could possibly be," said Ed Eivich, who owns the preserved Rambo Drive farmland. "Because it's a preserved farm, the deed restricts what uses we can have, but it allows special uses for agritourism. In several states, including Delaware, paintball is already allowed on farms as agricultural tourism."
According to Eivich's deed, the "Grantor may use the premises to derive income from certain recreation activities such as hunting, fishing, cross-country skiing and ecological tours if such activities do not interfere with the use of the land for agricultural production."
"If I don't need special permission to allow hunters to shoot live ammo on the premises, I don't see why paintball wouldn't be allowed," said Eivich.
"The paint is 100 percent biodegradable and non-toxic with no negative effect on the environment. It's a much lower impact than hunting and none of the land would be changed. The trees provide a natural cover."
Gloucester County spokeswoman Debra Sellitto said the county's agricultural board will only be able to tell Eivich if the operation of paintball activities would or would not be a violation to the deed of easement. From that point, the state agricultural board must give final approval and Eivich has to go before the township's zoning board for approval.
Mantua Township Mayor Tim Chell said generally, the problem with paintball activities is that neighbors complain because of noise. He wasn't able to comment on Eivich's particular situation since he has not yet appeared before the zoning board.
Eivich said his location would be ideal for such activities.
"Why should we be losing agricultural tourism in this state to neighboring states, especially in the current economy?" said Eivich. "My property sits between a trash recycling facility and a trucking facility, so I don't see where the objection would be."
Currently on his farm, Eivich boards horses and grows hay on the tillable | ... [Read More]

Smart Parts Temporary Closure
Smart Parts Inc., undergoes temporary closure for restructuring during the month of January 2010.
Loyalhanna, PA – January 6, 2009 – Paintball manufacturer Smart Parts, Inc. is temporarily shutting down all manufacturing and sale operations in order to facilitate a corporate restructuring. During this time, the company will not be able accept or process orders, ship or receive products or perform repairs. The restructuring process is expected to be completed by the end of January 2010.
“It is important that people do not send equipment in for service during this time,” said company Vice President, Adam Gardner. “Our buildings will not be staffed during the restructuring, so there will be no one there to receive packages. They will automatically be refused and returned to the sender.
“To the players, field owners and store owners, please know that we appreciate your support and are looking forward to a fresh start for the 2010 paintball season. We apologize for any inconvenience this short closure may cause, and hope to make it up to you in the future.”
Smart Parts, Inc., is a leading developer and manufacturer of equipment and accessories for the sport of paintball.

TAKEN FROM PRETTYLOU

The Reservoir Dogs sign with Dye!
When one door closes, another is opened . With that being said, the Reservoir Dogs Scenario Team are pleased and very excited to announce a sponsorship agreement reached with the industries leading manufacturer , DYE Precision. This agreement brings about a first for Dye Precision with the sponsoring of a scenario team. The Dogs are very honored to have that distinction and look forward to representing Dye for the 2010 season.
The Dogs always look for gear that will give them the edge out on the field, and we believe we have found that with DYE's extensive product lineup! Look for the Dogs to be slinging paint with the New 2010 Proto PMR. To make sure there's always paint in the breech, Dye Rotors will be feeding these markers! And for the unlikey chance our opponents get a chance to shoot back....Dye/Proto mask's and gear to protect our mugs! Stop by our tent to test or check out the latest.
Thanks to Larry and Kenn at QuickShot!
